The iconic guitar hero plays another classic set at Donington

Slash at Download

The atmosphere was electric as we all waited for the almighty god that is Slash. The sun was shining, the area around the Maurice Jones Stage was packed out with Download fans and all we could do is wait.

Finally, he runs on to stage and the place is instantly buzzing with screaming fans. The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist was simply unreal, hammering out riffs to the Download crowd.

As he came to the front if stage, Slash shouted “let me hear you scream” and that's exactly what the crowd did - SCREAM!!

Playing Guns N' Roses singles Sweet Child o' Mine, Paradise City and Nightrain, as well as Velvet Revolver's Slither, with sensational vocals courtesy of Myles Kennedy, Slash was on top form playing some of the riff from Paradise City behind his head.

The lights were flashing, it sounded amazing, Slash was having one huge party and we were all invited! “It’s great to be back here Donington, you guys are fucking awesome!” screamed one of hard rock’s finest and most soulful soloists and the crowd soon had their arms swaying in the air as he belted out Starlight.

Half way through the set and the clouds suddenly close in on us, but no one cared. Introduced by Slash as ‘a good friend of mine’ the crowd go mental as Slash belts out Gun N’ Rose tune, Sweet Child of Mine.

As soon as the audience think it couldn’t get any better, Lemmy of Motorhead bursts on to the stage for a rendition of Doctor Alibi.

What more can we say - you should have been there.
