Steel Panther ads banned in the UK WTF?!
Ok, this is a bit ridiculous. Steel Panther’s new album, which is admittedly features artwork that is a little bit ‘out-there’, has been considered “overtly sexual” and as such, those nice chaps at the Advertising Standards Authority have put a ban on the promo posters that are being used to advertise the new album.
The ASA received a total of four complaints. FOUR!!
For those that don’t already know, the CD cover features a scantily-clad young lady, dangling two metallic balls in between her legs.
“Given its placement in a range of public locations, we concluded that it was likely to cause serious and widespread offence,” said the ASA.
“[It] was unsuitable to be seen by children and therefore was not appropriate for outdoor advertising,” they added, and “overtly sexual when taken as a whole”.
What a load of old nonsense. Just to really piss off everyone at the ASA, here is a close up of the offending balls. Nice.
