Faith No More announcement creates massive traffic on the site
With your help, we've broken our personal best with new online user stats...

Oh my god, you nearly broke the internet!
We've recently seen the highest traffic figures ever in the history of www.downloadfestival.co.uk ! The highly anticipated and much talked about announcement on Monday 2 March, confirming that Faith No More as one of our 3 headliners, generated 100,000 visits to the website and over 900,000 page impressions throughout the day. This staggering figure is testament to the dedication and loyalty of the Download fanbase, who continue to shape the face of the festival, which now enters its seventh year.
Forum activity on the Download Festival website peaked at over 5,700 active users at the time of the Faith No More announcement at 7.45pm, whilst the main site saw over 20,000 visits between 7pm and 8pm. As well as the official website and forums, Download is one of the only UK festivals that has a unique and dedicated You Tube channel. The addition of an EPK at the time of the launch, including exclusive footage from Slipknot, Korn and Mötley Crüe has generated a combined viewing figure of 150,000 just in the last twelve months.
We've become renowned for providing fans with the best interactive experience of any UK festival website. Not only is there a dedicated interactive team at LN, but also a group of tireless moderators and admins, working to ensure fans are kept up to date with every announcement. Festival Director John Probyn and Festival Promoter Andy Copping regularly contribute to the forums - and this is what makes downloadfestival.co.uk so popular, with key moderators in regular contact with event organisers here at HQ, offering feedback and suggestions of improvement for future events. we were the first festival to launch the ‘Boardies BBQ’, which kicks off each year’s event on site at Donington and is a unique private party for key members of the Download online community.
Every interactive platform is key to Download Festival with fans across Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, Last FM and MySpace all contributing to Download’s interactive success, for example the official Download MySpace site has over 25,000 friends.
The awards speak for themselves – the Download Festival website has consistently been honoured at the prestigious BT Digital Music Awards since 2005 and last year was awarded ‘Best Music Community’ for the second consecutive year.
"The Download Festival website continues to go from strength to strength, the many years spent working with the grass roots community and fostering their interaction online, the year round community continues to thrive on the busiest rock/metal forums in Europe. With Andy & John taking time out to write their blogs this year, and holding Q&As with the fans, we have added another layer of interaction that continues to push the boundaries for the Festival."
- Mark Yovich ( Live Nation EVP & GM, International Digital)
We are now urging fans to purchase tickets so to avoid missing out, following what has been the festival’s best launch ever. With tickets selling faster than any other year, and the three headliners of Slipknot, Faith No More and Def Leppard locked in, its set to be a crazy weekend come 12 June. Tickets for Download are on sale now.
